Privacy Policy

Overview

SadwikFiles is an academic file vault for students. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account you agree to the practices described here.

Account information

We create your account using your university registration number and a 4-digit PIN that you choose. We do not require an email address to sign up. When you register, we attempt to auto-fill your name from a student directory; you can correct it at any time in settings.

Files you upload

The notes, PDFs, lectures, code snippets, and other materials you upload to SadwikFiles belong to you. Files are protected by row-level security, meaning only you can read or modify them unless you choose to share them. We do not sell your files and we do not use them to train external models.

AI features

When you use AI search or chat, your file contents may be sent to an AI model to generate a response. This processing happens only when you trigger a query and is used solely to answer your request. AI summaries and results are stored privately on your account.

Sharing and public repos

You can share files or folders by link, with optional passwords, expiry dates, and download limits. You can also make a file or folder public, which adds it to your registration-number public repo page that anyone can browse and download. Making something public is your choice — everything stays private to you until you enable it.

Data storage and security

Your files and metadata are stored in a managed database and object store. Downloads use short-lived signed URLs rather than a permanently public bucket. We apply standard technical safeguards, but no system is perfectly secure. We encourage you to keep your PIN private.

Optional Google Drive backup

SadwikFiles offers an optional feature to back up your files to your own Google Drive. If you connect Google Drive, you authorize access through Google's OAuth, the connection key is stored encrypted, and backups are written to a folder on your Drive. You can disconnect at any time, which revokes our access.

Payments

Some optional features may require a small payment, processed by a third-party payment provider. We do not store your full card details on our servers; payment processing is handled by the provider under their own privacy policy.

Data retention

We keep your files and account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete a file it moves to trash, and after the trash retention period it is permanently removed. You can request permanent deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

Your choices

You can edit your profile, change your PIN, manage share links, toggle public visibility, and disconnect Google Drive at any time from within the app. You can also delete files and folders whenever you choose.

Children and student use

SadwikFiles is designed for university students. If you believe a student under 18 has registered without consent, please contact us and we will review the account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as SadwikFiles evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.

Contact

Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to the SadwikFiles team through the in-app support options or by the contact details provided at registration.
